Monster High Inspired Cake

My cousin requested a monster high cake for her daughter. Her daughters favorites doll is the werewolf. Colors and designs based on the dolls outfit

Giant Cheeseburger Cake

My other half loves burgers, so what better than a Hamburger Birthday Cake? My first attempt ended up resulting in a mess. Top bun too heavy and it slid off the "ketchup" frosting, taking everything under it off. The bun portion is made with my Bake n' Fill pans with choice of carrot cake. The patty is brownie. I made MM fondant from scratch for covering the buns, lettuce, cheese, onions, tomato, and top pickle.

I made the fondant the day before and let sit in fridge. The onions, cheese, lettuce and tomato were made and placed on sheets in the fridge to firm and hold its shape. Assembly was held with cream cheese icing. For the seeds, I just did with the frosting. It was fun to make. Tip for anyone who makes this kind of cake is to not rush. Let icing firm in fridge after put on cake before adding top bun. I kick myself now for rushing and allowing my first one the get destroyed. I feel my first was a better job than this one.

Lady Gaga Cake

My brother was turning 16 and seeing how I recently started making cakes and made everyone else one, I knew I had to make him something great too. I knew he was into music so my idea was an iPod. Then my mom tells me he told her he wanted a Gaga cake for his sweet 16.

I was overwhelmed with the amount of different looks of Gaga. I know who she is but never sat down and watched her videos. So the night before I made the cake I sat down and watched some. Then I saw it, her Paparazzi video. Her crazy shades and funky yellow outfit. I knew I had to go with that.

The Gaga head and torso topper are made of Rice Krispies

then covered in melted vanilla (kind of like making molding chocolate) colored to give skin color.

Was my first time doing it and I LOVE how well it molds! So much better than fondant, will be my new tool in cakes!!!

The Homemade Lady Gaga Birthday Cake itself is regular yellow cake, but I dyed it rainbow colors and made a rainbow cake.

Divide mix and color with Wiltsons gel coloring

Pour mix in any color pattern into the middle of pan

Giant Cupcake/Candy Cake

Who doesn't like cupcakes?
I was excited to get a giant cupcake pan. Theme was candy and cupcakes.

MMF and molding vanilla. Molding VANILLA? Yes!!!! Same as with chocolate but I honestly like to work with it better, plus its white. All candy made in advance with the vanilla, molded by hand...even the giant sprinkles.
The pan was new and I had never tried it before. I learned to cover the base of cupcake to help cook.  Its so thick, that it takes a longer of time. The top got done before the bottom. The pan should honestly be made into 2 pieces.

Rifle Gun Cake

This is one of my favorites I have made so far. Made for my coworkers sweet little boy for his birthday. I loved how everything turned out. Was easier than I thought.

First, the board was covered with duct tape...YES, DUCT TAPE! They carry camo kind at Wal-Mart.
I made chocolate cake first, standard rectangle pan.
Took cardboard and cut out my template.
Place cake on wax paper and put template over it and cut out. I did layer spare pieces of cake to build up some areas.

Make MMF (I used chocolate marshmallows since they're already brown). Added in some brown Wiltons gel coloring for base color and blend completely. Next I added some more brown but NOT blending in completely, gives that wood look.

Made Rice Krispies, molded a barrel. Let harden in fridge. I already had made molding chocolate at this point. (Dyed black when mixed.) Covered RK in the molding chocolate. Attached to cake with icing. Molded the pin, trigger, and scope with the rest.

This face is the reason I do this...he was so happy!!

Fireman Helmet (first fondant)

My first cake ever with fondant was in March 2011. Last minute decided to Google how to. It was not as bad as I thought. Of course I have got better since, but for last minute making, I think it came out fine

Made out of homemade MMF. My Betty Crocker Bake N Fill pan was WONDERFUL for this project.
